The Women’s Resource Centre was born on March 10, 1984, with primary goals of referring women to the appropriate agencies for assistance, as well as having drop-in hours. In the beginning, funds were raised through bake sales, flea markets, car washes and a community dance, with the first office found in the basement of the local pharmacy. Following this, the WRC became a registered charity and received federal funding to operate on a one year basis. Each year since then, we have applied for grants to fund our positions, and we continue to build our resource library, implement social programs, and assist those in need through our thrift store and various services.
